What Is Pulse Wave Therapy?

Pulse Wave Therapy actually has multiple names that have been used to describe it. Other names are Shock Wave, Sound Wave, Radial Wave, and Extracorporeal Wave therapy. No matter what you call it, the therapy is a very effective addition to the options in healing and supporting the body's many rejuvenative processes.

A pulse wave or shockwave is defined as a wave with a rapid increase of pressure within a very short time and then having a gradual decrease of pressure with a small negative pressure phase.

The therapy of a pulse wave is created in the phase of the pressure shift inside and along the tissue, affecting the cellular structure.

What Conditions Benefit From Pulse Wave Therapy?

Chronic pain, chronic inflammation, chronic restrictions, acute pain, acute inflammation, muscle tightness, muscle pain, tendonitis, bone spurs, neuromas, plantar fasciitis, trigger points, scar tissue, scar adhesions, circulatory restrictions, blood vessel restrictions, arthritis, and more. Any condition that has a restrictive buildup of calcium or collagen, not allowing for proper function of the blood vessels or soft tissue.

How Is The Pulse Wave administered?

The pulse wave device has two parts: the unit that generates the energy and the handpiece that delivers the treatment to the body. The handpiece has different-sized applicator heads that allow us to be precise and effectively treat the different areas of the body. The pressure is applied to the area in several test phases. Each test phase allows us to fine-tune the pressure and ensure maximum treatment. We will apply a small amount of therapy gel to the treatment area to allow for more comfortable treatment. As the treatment is being performed, you will feel pressure and some mild tenderness.

How Does The Pulse Wave work?

The pulse wave causes dissolution of calcium deposits and improves vascularization, leading to relief of pain and improvement in the localized tissues. The waveform breaks the calcium bonds on a cellular and extracellular level. The calcium is then free to be reabsorbed back into the body. The result is that the restricted or injured tissue has improved blood circulation, decreased pain threshold, and improved metabolic activity. These improvements allow for regenerative healing even of the most chronic problems. High blood flow is restored to the tissue, and the normal health and function of the tissue are restored.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Each patient is different. Each site of treatment has its own variables affecting treatment times. The research and clinical findings indicate that some conditions can benefit from just a single treatment. More commonly, 5 to 7 treatments are expected, with some conditions needing more, as well as some conditions needing follow-up treatments every 3 to 4 months.
